There
is one thing so vastly wrong with the Affirmative Action and Equal
Opportunity acts that it is never spoken of and that is that everyone
of every race and
religion
is entitled to the jobs of their choosing regardless
of
abilities.
It is foolishness to hire a 24 year old, 6’
9”,
59 I.Q. basketball player as an electronic engineer just as it would
be to hire a 65 year old, 5’ 4”, ___
I.Q. electronic engineer to be a point
guard for the LA
Lakers! Besides, the point guard makes more in an afternoon than the
EE did in his entire career ;o)
Now
the government (all hail the government!) in its infinite wisdom,
implemented Lyndon dog-Bane Johnson’s ‘Great Society’ disaster,
thereby making single parent families de rigour for
black folk and quintupling the number of unwed mothers in white. The
gummit in the meantime, grew more than 400 percent in relation to the
US population, presumably to hire un-employed blacks. The black
unemployment rate is virtually the same now as it was in 1964,
however, 24 percent of employed blacks
‘work’ for the gummit. Go figure. Oh, there’s the little thing
about the ‘Great Society’ disaster and that is accountability for
what our 21 trillion
dollars bought.
There’s
another piece of crap that annoys this
grouchy old cripple (not
to be taken as the
Grouchy
Old Cripple who is far more erudite than yours truly)
and that is the requirement to accept all comers. The Swedes did.
What happened to the Vikings of old? I think I’d be raising hell
and putting a bunch of mooseslimes in it for the massive, 1,472
percent increase in just rape alone.
As
far as hiring went, personally I’ve been responsible for maybe 20
or so, mostly as suggestions as ‘human resources’ isn’t listed
as an EE’s lookout. Race and sex have
never
played any part of selection, only ability. Of all religions, only
Islam played any part in
the process
and that was grounds for not hiring despite
abilities.
I’ve
studied the Koran extensively beginning at the age of 15 and have
found that it is unique in being the only major religion that
espouses death for any beliefs other than itself, even other muslims
if ‘they’ do not conform to the type of Islam even
if the ‘others’ accept Islam. Try that on, you’ll have the same
problem I’ve faced. A
impossible paradox. Any followers of The
Prophet live in a horrible, inhuman world.

That’s
enough of that dreck. However, it did remind me of Raoul, a young
Lebanese man
that used to work for us at CEI back in the early 70’s as a field
service technician. He was excellent, made all of our customers quite
happy, and only had a few problems. No, he wasn’t a muslim, not by
a long-shot. He had a couple of handicaps, one which you would expect
to keep him out of the field service business. The
wheelchair was just an annoyance as I’ve come to know quite
thoroughly in the past half-dozen years, the palsy he had in his
hands was what you would think would be the deal-breaker. His hands
would shake about 3-5 times per second and wielding a soldering iron
and a solder-sucker would
seem to be difficult if not impossible. You’d be wrong, oh
repairman’s breath!
I
once witnessed him in action with the customer watching him tear into
the client’s $40,000 broadcast TV camera (out of warranty of
course), making lots of smoke amidst the microelectronics. Yes
Virginia, we did have such in paleolithic times!
The
analysis of the problem was correct as usual, the repair flawless (as
usual), and the customer needed the use of a defibrillator on his
cold, sweating body!
Later
Raoul told me with a shit-eating grin, “it’s all in the timing!”
Another
win for Raoul from New Jersey or “Raoul of Bayonne”, Johnny
Carson’s nemisis as we called him.
